In the summer of 1996, I woke up from surgery without my leg. While I may have lost part of myself that day, I gained a new perspective on life that I can only describe in one word… perseverance. I have constantly been put in situations where I have had the choice to give up or persevere.  And when I have chosen to persevere, the positivity of mindset has enabled me to flourish. During my recovery, I realized that there are many other people in the world like me who may have to go through a similar struggle.  My father, a Vietnam veteran, encouraged me to do what I could to make their journey a little easier. That’s when the concept behind One Foot Two Shoes was born.

In my personal experience, I have realized the inconvenience that it can be to have to buy a pair of shoes as an amputee when you really only need "an unpair," as my wife calls it, or one shoe. So, after researching, to my surprise, I found that there weren’t any clear options available to purchase just one shoe. Therefore, One Foot Two Shoes was created to give a unique and innovative shopping experience for amputees. Now, there is an option especially for us. 

We don’t just stop there! In a world that may ostracize, demean or belittle us, One Foot Two Shoes creates an inclusive marketplace for ALL shoe lovers. So, customers can also purchase two single shoes as a pair, whether matched or "mix"-matched (an Unpair - of different sizes, sides or styles).

It has been a process of perseverance on this long road developing this business.  It hasn’t been easy, but necessary to, not only assist fellow amputees like myself, but also to bring more awareness to this need.
